RSG members Kent and Davis speak at international conference on trauma
Drs. Martha Kent and Mary Davis spoke at the annual meeting of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
Resilience Solutions Group members Martha Kent and Mary Davis recently spoke at the annual meeting of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies on resilience capabilities which can serve as guides for prevention and intervention in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Drs. Kent and Davis and colleagues have examined resilience-based interventions which promote mastery, positive affective engagement, and emotion regulation among individuals managing stress, the chronic pain of rheumatoid arthritis, and of fibromyalgia with elements of trauma. As Drs. Kent and Davis' presentation demonstrates, in a resilience-building program that restores lost resilience qualities of approach/engagement, and social relatedness, results have shown decreased PTSD symptoms, improved well-being measures, and gains in neuropsychological function.
