Bio

First-year Ph.D. student in the Urban Planning program at the School of Geographical Science and Urban Planning, Arizona State University, Tempe AZ. Before my graduate studies, I lived and worked in New Mexico, bordering the Navajo Reservation the past seven years I taught at Navajo Technical University (NTU), Crownpoint NM as a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Lecture, later promoted to Assistant Professor. I created the BIM Associate of Applied Science program (2 years) and later developed policies with the University of New Mexico (UNM) for tribal students to advance their higher educational career. http://www.navajotech.edu/academics/associate-of-applied-science/building-information-modeling I completed a Master's in Community, Regional, and Planning program at UNM focusing on Physical Design, Green Infrastructure, and Indigenous Planning. I loved my entire cohort, faculties, mentors, the Dean, etc... by far a wonderful educational experience at the School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P). I devoted most of my time with the Indigenous Planning Design Institute (iD+Pi) that is housed in SA+P. https://idpi.unm.edu/ I will continue to carry my partnerships and network from UNM working towards building indigenous capital and education. I completed my bachelor’s in Interior Design at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ this educational experience was so long ago it's hard to reflect. However, I had great educators at the School of Design.

My primary research interest is evolving... I would like to continue my personal research focusing on indigenous architecture and planning. I hope to make sense of how I can blend indigenous planning and urban planning... lol This sounds very bazaar as I type it, out loud. I had the privilege of working in a fab lab at NTU, where I was able to utilize some of the Lidar equipment to capture data of Dine (Navajo) architecture. I developed a short website of some of my interests if you would like to view, here is the link https://sites.google.com/site/hozhotees/portfolio?authuser=0 I am very passionate about working with my community and surrounding indigenous communities. I am from Dennehotos, AZ (Northern, AZ) where my family still resides and hopes to one day live and work in my home community. I have so many ideas of developing an indigenous think tank, research center, podcast, youth centers, etc...
