Why Every Arizonan Counts

This 2020 Census, every Arizonan that responds earns approximately $3000 for the state of Arizona. An undercount as small as 1% could result in a loss of $62 million. What would you do with $3000?

Why does the census matter to us?

The census belongs to all us. It's a rare effort that touches every single person in the country and an opportunity to share, discover, and respond. The census matters to the Knowledge Exchange for Resilience because it's a powerful tool in supporting community resilience.

When you respond to the 2020 census, you become part of a rich data-set. Shared data allows us to conduct more accurate research, discover gaps or missed areas of need, and respond in ways that bridge the university and community to build resilience together.

What is the 2020 Census?

More than just a simple headcount the data collected during the 2020 Census determines congressional seating appointments, allocates billions in federal funding dollars, and drives policy-making. It's a snapshot of who we are and who we've become over the past ten years.

 What to Expect

In March 2020, the U.S. Census Bureau will open the online form. To respond digitally, you'll need to use the 10-digit User ID number located on the census materials mailed to you.

In May, census representatives will begin follow-ups to households that still need to be counted. The goal is to ensure the most accurate count and properly map the population of Arizona.
