The world is changing rapidly and facing challenges that are incredibly complex: a global pandemic, a looming housing crisis, natural disasters, and extreme heat. The Knowledge Exchange for Resilience mobilizes the strengths of the university and community to create new knowledge and research that will help us bounce back better, faster, and together.

Community impact numbers

Mobile home residents received direct outreach from the fire department to ensure heat safety. KER research found 29% of indoor deaths occurred in mobile homes from 2016 -2019, making them extremely vulnerable.

Engineering students designed cost-effective cooling solutions for mobile home parks. Researchers will soon test prototypes to complete the annual Heat Resilience Challenge.
